Staff and Student Grants

HSEF is rooted in innovation and the mission to bring the next best practices in education home to local students and teachers. We typically support these initiatives through two annual grant cycles.

For HSEF general grant guidelines and instructions, click here.

Fall: Each fall, HSEF welcomes applications from HSE teachers and staff that support bringing new and innovative ideas to our classrooms and schools. However, the Foundation recognizes the current challenges facing HSE staff and students in 2020. Applicants may submit proposals for needs related to instruction during COVID-19 if the proposal explains how the project will have a sustainable impact beyond COVID-19. HSEF typically does not fund basic supplies nor consumables. The fall 2020 grant application deadline is midnight on Thursday, November 5, 2020.  For the fall 2020 grant application, click here.

Spring: Piloted in Spring 2020, HSEF implemented a new student led grant program to support HSE21 Instructional Framework and best practices to provide students with an opportunity to use their student voice and choice to create a relevant learning experience. For FAQs regarding our spring student led grant cycle, click here: Student Led Grant FAQs. Spring 2021 student led grant applications will be available in late 2020.

After each application deadline, the selection committee comprised of teachers, district administrators, and community leaders, meets to determine recipients. This committee uses a combination of objective and subjective criteria when evaluating grant applications. Applications that clearly meet more criteria will generally be viewed more favorably during evaluation. In some instances, HSEF is not able to fund all requests due to budgetary constraints. This does not mean that a rejected application is inappropriate or unsatisfactory.

Grant recipients are expected to complete a final grant report. To submit a final grant report, click here.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to follow the Foundation on FacebookTwitterInstagram and LinkedIn for additional reminders or changes to the process.  Educators are encouraged to visit our community friendly funders page or connect with Kristen Wolf with questions related to the application process, technical assistance, or for funding needs that fall outside of our grant process.

Thank you for all you do each day to empower, encourage, and motivate our students!
